Having a strong, stable pension is an important concern for workers across Canada. But negotiating gains on pensions at the bargaining table can be difficult and highly technical, especially in the post-secondary education (PSE) sector where many workers have part-time or hourly contracts. Despite the challenges, locals in the PSE sector have made progress on pensions recently, both at the bargaining table and through job action.
Post-Secondary Education workers in BC are looking to celebrate their recent successes and build on the momentum of these pension victories. Please join CUPE Research and local leaders for a webinar about pensions and pension bargaining in the post-secondary education sector in BC.
The program will include an overview of pension structure and governance, present examples of bargaining strategy and success stories from PSE locals, and provide a forum for questions and discussion. While the program is tailored to the BC post-secondary education context, any CUPE member is welcome to attend.
